4 Attn WI: Important MC-Series Update
Effective immediately, due to changes in state mandated benefits in the Basic Plan, United American has assigned new plan codes for new Medicare Supplement business issued in Wisconsin. Letters, numbers and descriptions on the new rate cards are different. Therefore, it is important to read the new rate cards carefully.

A letter has been sent to affected Agents and includes a sample rate card. While new rate cards are being printed, please make and use copies of the rate card provided. New cards will be available to order upon completion of printing. Note: There are no rate increases at this time. Benefits for current policyholders do not change.

4 Guaranteed Issue Disability Med-Supps (All States)
Some states have mandated that UA (and other carriers which offer Disability Medicare Supplements) must guarantee issue coverage to applicants (including uninsurable applicants). Effective January 1, 2000, if an applicant is issued a Disability Plan on a guaranteed issue basis including HMO coverage that is being withdrawn, there will be no commission paid or credited at any level. This action is being taken to offset the expected increase in claims that will be incurred on these plans.

United American will continue to pay commissions according to our contract on Medicare Supplement Disability plans issued after health questions are underwritten and the waiting period is served for pre-existing conditions.
