George
Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Winston Churchill, Franklin Roosevelt,
Dwight Eisenhower and Ronald Reagan - all were great leaders whose
lives and accomplishments have helped re-write the history books. What
makes a great leader? A great leader has the ability to attract great
people, to inspire them, and to make the most of their talents. By
enhancing others’ lives, one improves one’s own life. That’s a
lesson that Autry Freeman, our Atlanta Branch Manager, learned early
with United American and has since developed leaders at every
opportunity. Autry knows when you invest your energies in others, not
only are you helping to build their future, you are building your own
future too. Perhaps that’s why Autry was our Number One Branch
Manager for 2003!
Autry realizes the importance of mentoring and
gives his time and talents unselfishly to teach and guide those around
him. His philosophy has helped build a bright future for many at
United American. He lives the United American dream and, by his
generosity of spirit, willingly offers it to others - a primary
attribute of true leadership.
The first step toward achieving the UA dream is
recruiting new Agents and Unit Managers. Promoting those Unit Managers
to Branch Managers is phase two, and Autry has done both with gusto!
He has promoted more Unit Managers to Branch Managers than anyone else
in the Company and, as of October 2003, more Branch Managers who have
attained appointment to the Company’s illustrious President’s
Council. Autry’s demonstrated belief is that leadership development
never ends.
In addition to Autry, other Branch Managers have
put this philosophy into practice. They’re outstanding leaders
themselves, recognize that potential in others, and, as a result, have
also promoted many Unit Managers to Branch Managers. It’s these
talented individuals who comprise our new Leadership Development Board
pictured on page 8.
The Leadership Development Board has
a three-fold purpose:
1. To design mutually beneficial systems to
promote growth opportunities within new and existing branches.
2. To expand total recruiting and weekly
producers within new and existing branches.
3. To grow total in force premium revenue
within new and existing branches.
It’s an
exciting challenge, and they are ready!
How does the development of new
leaders benefit United American? It means personal and professional
growth for Agents, Unit Managers and Branch Managers, which translates
to continued growth and success for the Company. Leadership
development exercises our responsibility to help our Company evolve
and enhance its already stellar reputation for financial stability. Is
this newest group of Branch Managers successful in generating revenue?
You bet they are! Take a look at these numbers! First quarter 2004
total production from these new Branch Managers is $2,937,460; total
annualized premiums for 2004 at their present rate is nearly $12
million and, given the talent and enthusiasm of this new group, it
could be $15,000,000 to $20,000,000 by year’s end!
Success generates success. Unit Managers are
certainly an important part of every Branch’s success; and, when
Unit Managers are promoted to Branch Management, the rest of the
T.E.A.M. in that branch sees a real and attainable opportunity to
manage their own Branch at some future date too. Promoting Agents to
Unit Managers, and then supporting them to go on to Branch Management,
helps everyone work harder to seek and attain higher opportunities.
Our Leadership Development Board is an extremely
important partner in the future of our Division. I extend my heartiest
congratulations to the new “elite” of United American:
THE LEADERSHIP
DEVELOPMENT BOARD!
